Seattle Family Portrait Photography :: Twin Girls turn One!

I don’t blog nearly often enough. As a mom and a photographer I feel pretty great most days if I am dressed, if I make it to where I need to be and at the right time (pregnancy brain is a real thing and just flows right into mommy brain), if my toddler manages to make it safely through the day without injuring a pet or himself, and if I eat at least one balanced meal.

So blogging is a BIG bonus! But of course, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to blog a quick preview of this beautiful family’s recent portrait session at the Ballard Locks. Their gorgeous girls, Scarlett and Lola, turned ONE recently, and like most busy parents juggling jobs and kids and everything else in life, Marcus and Kelly slowed things down for a moment to celebrate this monumental {and oh-so-memorable!} time in their lives.

Consistent with gorgeous Seattle summers, the sunshine just poured down on us. Our session was bright and colorful, and full of busy one-year-old wiggle worms! I loved it. And I am so looking forward to sharing the full set of images with Marcus and Kelly soon at their custom gallery review session! These times with babies are so precious – gone in a heartbeat. Before we know it, they are two, and then twelve, and then leaving home! Gah! Don’t get me started.

And I really love that at the end, the little wiggle bugs found their bottles which gave Marcus and Kelly a moment to themselves. As a busy parent, I know too well how we have to find and cherish those moments with our partners. A pause here, a little nuzzle there. Babies are busy! So those moments of calm are worth the wait and so lovely, too.

I hope you enjoy these images as much as I do!

Lea Leather Product Images

I recently had the opportunity to photograph a very cool project for Lea Leather! My friend, Karen, is launching a new business and needed some images for her website (under construction, otherwise I would link to it). We completed her images just before she hosted a booth at a large local festival. I love the story about how her business idea began (following a fabulous trip to South America with a friend).

Her products are beautiful, and I wish her so much success in getting her business under way! This was a little Facebook Ad I put together for her in a jiffy right before the festival. Aren’t these fun?!

Road Trip Memories

For a variety of reasons, much of this summer was dedicated to family and healing.

I haven’t yet decided if road trips and toddlers mix, but in spite of ourselves, we had a great time and captured some beautiful moments. Our little guy turned TWO (oh. my. goodness. here we come!) on this trip and quickly introduced us to the full experience of being two. But we had some wonderful moments, some play time in nature, and many fond moments to look back on through these images (plus many more). These are just a few of the highlights.

Baby Calvin Arrives :: Mommy & Baby’s First Moments

I love the early tender moments between momma and baby, as they are getting to know each other and connect in such a special way — learning to hold, snuggle, nurse, soothe and interact. The whole process of bringing a baby into the world, regardless of how it happens, is truly miraculous.

And I felt so lucky to be with baby Calvin and his momma in their early, tender moments during their hospital stay. There is nothing quite like watching those little eyes open up, watching momma nurse, and witnessing some of the first moments in baby’s life outside of the womb!

What a lovely, amazing thing to be able to document for a family.

Baby is Coming :: Maternity Portraits

How fabulous does pregnancy look on Ashley? In my opinion she makes it look way too easy and dare I say, even glamorous! {Unfair!!}

But I loved creating these portraits for her, just a few weeks away from meeting baby Calvin!  This is such a unique and special time, not without its own challenges and scares, but looking back on pregnancy, it does go quickly in the scheme of things. That is why I encourage any pregnant woman not to pass up an opportunity to create beautiful, lasting portraits!
